During this 3-day photo adventure, we’ll first explore Ensenada Mexico, which lies only an hour and 15 minutes south of the border and full of wonderful photographic opportunities. From the bustling fish market at the colorful wharf to the elegant Riviera Cultural Center – downtown Ensenada has innumerable colorful, unique subjects to photograph: harbor scenes, pelicans, sea lions, locals, colorful shops and signs, vendors and their wares, classic musicians, and lots more.
On the second day we’ll take a boat ride in the harbor before making the scenic drive to the famous blowhole situated out on beautiful Punta Banda. We’ll photograph seascapes, vendors and musicians, the blowhole, and maybe a beautiful sunset.
This trip’s final day we’ll visit and tour one of the wineries – we’ll photograph the cellars and participate in wine-tasting. After a delicious lunch overlooking Guadalupe valley, we’ll take the scenic drive to Tecate. A rustic pottery factory will be visited, then a final stop in Tecate’s central plaza.
During the trip, Jim will also be giving slide show lectures on creating more dynamic photographs and on maximizing your results with digital SLR cameras.

Upon arriving downtown, we’ll explore the harbor and Mercado Negro (fish market) area to have lunch and photograph the action at the fish market and scenes of other vendors and the harbor. After lunch we’ll photograph some of the local musicians. After checking into our hotel, we’ll meet in the conference room for a preview of images from the trip and a photography workshop. In the late afternoon we’ll visit the Cathedral, and then the Riviera Cultural Center for the last light. We’ll then go up on a viewpoint above the town and take twilight shots of the city and harbor. We’ll have a good dinner, and maybe a tasty margarita. On the way back to the hotel we’ll visit the famous Hussong’s Cantina, and take some shots of the revelers and musicians.

After the boat trip we’ll walk along the malecon, the sea walk along the harbor. After breakfast we’ll have a photo workshop and discussion. We’ll have some free time in the middle of the day, then make the 45 minute drive out to La Bufadora, where we’ll photograph the blowhole, and the many colorful vendors. We’ll visit and photograph the people who sell home-made tamales and jars of honey, chilies and other products. Then we’ll go on the cliffs for some scenic shots of the sunset. We’ll end the night with a good dinner.
